The Final Tasting

Of the Wine Blogger Conference that is!!  We tasted so much wine over that 3 day period, I’m surprised I had it in me to keep tasting for the rest of my vacation in Sonoma/Napa!  Not to mention all the tasting I did in Calaveras before I even arrived at the Conference.

The last tasting of the weekend was a Luxe Sonoma Tasting.  About 6 wineries came to showcase their small production wines before the final meal of the conference.  Certainly some of the best was saved for last as I found quite a few wines I loved at this tasting!

2004 Medlock Ames Cabernet Sauvignon: Fruit comes from the southernmost vineyard in Alexander Valley. Organic. Gorgeous berry fruit, cherry, espresso, vanilla, chocolate, seemed very young!

2006 Flowers Chardonnay: Peach, apple, light, slight oak, clean, easy to drink.

2007 Flowers Pinot Noir: Cherry, vanilla, floral, slight earth, strawberry, very cherry, balanced, nice red fruit.

2006 Jordan Russsian River Chardonnay: Lean nose, minerals, green apple, smells clean, lemon, pear, nice structure.

2004 Jordan Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon: Fabulous nose. Bright red fruit, peppers, leather, strawberries, cherries, definitely needs more time.

2004 Montemaggiore Dry Creek Valley Syrah: Meaty, chocolate, dark plums, something herbal/forresty, tannic, beautiful.  One of my favorite wines of the whole weekend.

2004 Montemaggiore Superiore: Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah blend. Berry nose, balckberry, currants, jam, dark, leather, earth, great structure. Also one of my favorite wines of the weekend.

2006 Siduri Terra de Promissio Pinot Noir: Smoky, red fruit, black cherry, interesting finish, smooth.
