We Needed More Wine…

Oddly enough, despite bringing two + cases of wine with me on our holiday visit to my parents’ house, I neglected to bring any white wines.  So we stopped into Branford Wine and Spirits and rustled up a few bottles, one of which was the 2007 Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand.  I am always a fan of the Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc, but hadn’t yet had the 2007 so I grabbed it right off the shelf and brought it home.  I believe it cost around $17, had a screw cap closure, and I didn’t get the alcohol by volume before the bottle went to recycling.

On the nose I found grapefruit, lime, gooseberries, green pepper, and minerals.  Some other citrus and tropical fruit aromas lurked in the background.  In the mouth I got flavors of tropical fruit, grapefruit, citrus, grass, and a hint of pepper.

The Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blancs have always represented a great, consistent value in my mind. I have never been disappointed in any wine I’ve purchased from this producer.  The 2007 was no exception, providing a racy wine with tart fruit that tingled the tongue.  An excellent New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and one I go back to time and time again.
