Same Wine, New Vintage

I know I’ve mentioned many times that the Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc is among the staple everyday wines in my house.  It is always consistent and represents and excellent value.  I’ve never been disappointed in it, and will continue to seek it out as one of my house whites.  So when I saw the new vintage on sale at Costco, I had to grab some! We drank it the other night with one of our Friday fish meals for Lent. The 2008 Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc retails for $14.99 at Costco, had a screw cap closure, and clocked in at 13% alcohol by volume.

On the nose I found grapefruit, gooseberries, lime, tropical notes, and stones.  I wrote in my notes that the wine smelled “tart.”  In the mouth I got flavors of lime, grapefruit, passion fruit, lemon, and fresh lime.  I’ve never tasted a wine before that was quite so limey.  I found the wine to be nicely acidic, but not mouth puckering.  A value for sure!

  1. KC, Sav Blc, yes indeed a great everyday value! Love the stelvin cap as well! Great wine for the price!

  2. I just had my first bottle of this wine last week and indeed it was limey! In fact I wrote down in my notebook it tasted like a lime popsicle – very intense lime citrus flavors. Great wine, and at $14.99, a great price.

  3. Definitely agree Bill, thanks for stopping by!

Very good price Ryan…I’ve even seen it online for a few bucks less than that! Thanks for the comment!

  4. I can almost always tell the differences from year to year, but Kim Crawford is always consistent in it’s value. I’ve liked everything I’ve ever had from him.

  5. I’ve really enjoyed their wines too Claire.

  6. If you’re anywhere near Montgomery County, you might want to check out the $8.99 sale on Kim Crawford for the entire month of June! BTW, I hope you don’t mind my quoting you and linking here on my page.
