Better Than Lemonade

*Disclaimer: I received this bottle as a sample from Bin Ends Wine in order to participate in the F. Wildman Twitter Taste Live.

Favorite note for this wine may actually make my list of the best tasting notes I’ve written: The wine tastes like lemonade with chalky stones crushed in.  I think this was the 2nd wine up for the Twitter Taste Live, the 2007 Christian Moreau Chablis. It had a real cork closure, clocked in at 12.5% alcohol by volume, and retails for about $20. I can’t say I’ve tasted too many wines from Chablis in my wine tasting days…probably goes along with the fact that I don’t drink that many wines from France in general, and even fewer Chardonnays! And the ones I do drink usually come from Macon.

On the nose I found lemon, white pepper, stony minerality, hay, florals, nuts, almonds, and lemongrass. At first the nose seemed reserved, but I’m pretty sure I chilled it down just a bit too much since it opened up considerably as it warmed.  In the mouth I got that lemonade with chalky stones crushed in thing, lemon, apples, grass, and a slightly salty finish.  I found the iwne to be crisp and clean, and quite refreshing…kinda like drinking a glass of lemonade dusted with chalky salt!
