*Disclaimer: I received this wine as a sample from Bin Ends Wine so I could participate in the F. Wildman Twitter Taste Live.
The F. Wildman Twitter Taste Live involved 4 bottles of white wine, one Rosé, and a red wine. F. Wildman set summer sippers as the theme, attempting to showcase some inexpensive easy drinking wines for the summer. Up 4th for the evening, we tried the 2007 Olivier Leflaive Les Setilles Bourgogne Blanc. It had a plastic cork closure, clocked in at 13% alcohol by volume, and retails for around $15. I believe the Chablis we had never saw any oak treatment while this one ages half in oak barrels and half in stainless steel for 8 months.
On the nose I found lemon, pear, apple, toast, the faintest whiff of butter, a hint of smoke, toffee, vanilla bean, and something tropical hiding under the toast. Based on the nose, I’d serve this with a slightly heavier grilled fish. In the mouth I got smoked honey toast, apple, buttered pear, and something tropical hiding in the butter.
