*Disclaimer: I received this wine as a sample from Kendall Jackson.
I don’t have much Pinot Noir in my basement. Don’t get me wrong, I love the stuff….and therein lies the problem….I love the stuff and it costs money. Usually I have to pay significantly more for a bottle than I would for something to drink an an everyday basis. So I’m always keeping an eye for a bottle that delivers a clean example of the wine at a lower price. And that is what we have here in the 2007 La Crema Pinot Noir. It clocked in at 13.9% alcohol by volume, had a real cork closure, and I see it retailing for as low as $18 online.
On the nose I found strawberry, black cherry, cranberry, coke, spice, earth, some herbal notes, and raspberry. The nose had everything that makes Pinot what it is, which I am always happy to find that for under $20. In the mouth I got black raspberry, black cherry, spice, strawberry, and coke. It had good acidity and structure. The fruit showed clean and fresh, and delivered a real Pinot bargain for the price point.
