I realize that the cold has arrived and is here to stay for the winter. However, I’m trying to test out wines for the holiday season and I really like to have Sauvignon Blanc with our cheese and crackers, and sometimes with the main meal! For tonight I chose the 2007 Huntington Cellars Dry Creek Valley Sauvignon Blanc. The wine clocked in at 14% alcohol by volume, I believe it had a screw-cap closure, and cost me about $9 at the winery.
On the nose I found melon, lemon, grass, herbs, minerals, citrus, and tropical fruit. This had a great nose, and I loved the minerality running through. In the mouth I got flavors of grass, lemon, herbs, oranges, and pineapple. I found the wine to be dry, tart, and crisp. The citrus flavors provided a racy acidity and it tasted great. An excellent value at this price point.
