Sneaking Sauvignon Blanc

Huntington 1I realize that the cold has arrived and is here to stay for the winter.  However, I’m trying to test out wines for the holiday season and I really like to have Sauvignon Blanc with our cheese and crackers, and sometimes with the main meal! For tonight I chose the 2007 Huntington Cellars Dry Creek Valley Sauvignon Blanc. The wine clocked in at 14% alcohol by volume, I believe it had a screw-cap closure, and cost me about $9 at the winery.

On the nose I found melon, lemon, grass, herbs, minerals, citrus, and tropical fruit.  This had a great nose, and I loved the minerality running through.  In the mouth I got flavors of grass, lemon, herbs, oranges, and pineapple.  I found the wine to be dry, tart, and crisp.  The citrus flavors provided a racy acidity and it tasted great.  An excellent value at this price point.
