Figgy Figgy Figgy!

*Disclaimer: I received this wine as a sample from Mill Creek Winery

Sadly, I had to miss my appointment at Mill Creek Winery on my last CA trip. I had a previously scheduled appointment that changed last minute, that I had committed to months ago.  I felt bad, I really wanted to visit since I’d “met” Mill Creek on Twitter, in the persona of Jeremy, whom we also got to meet in person at the Healdsburg Bar and Grill on the trip! So instead, Jeremy tossed a couple bottles into a shipper and sent them my way.  The first is the 2007 Mill Creek Winery Sauvignon Blanc.  The wine had a real cork closure, clocked in at 14.2% alcohol by volume, and retails for $18.

On the nose, fig dominated! This is the figgiest wine I’ve ever stuck my nose in, and I loved it!  I also found lemon, melon, tropical fruit, stone fruit, star fruit, honeydew melon, and what could only be described as a hint of licorice.  And more fig!  In the mouth I found tropical fruit, oranges, mandarins, limes, melon, crisp melon, grapefruit, and a hint of pineapple.  The wine had a nice tart finish and a rounded mouthfeel.
